Abdul Tantouch takes on Sustainable Water Talk at UK Construction Week Birmingham 2022

UK Construction Week Birmingham is set to take place 4-6th October 2022 where there will be a focus on ‘Celebrating Culture Change in Construction’. Our very own Abdul Tantouch will be taking to the stage on the Sustainability Hub on 6th October 14:40-15:30 to discuss Sustainable Water.
Abdul has 10 years’ experience in research analysis and is the Head of Content at Barbour ABI, making him responsible for overseeing the production of our research reports. He will be alongside Maria Coulter, from the Construction Coach. Maria’s ethos is all about the ‘Construction Revolution’ which is encouraging the industry to move away from the ‘race to the bottom’ on cost and the boom-and-bust culture that runs through it.
During the session Abdul will give an overview of the market using Barbour ABI’s prepared data, with input from the Bathroom Association and manufacturer Kelda Showers. Barbour ABI’s brand-new underfloor heating report suggests that it is estimated that water-based UFH installed with a heat pump can provide typically 40% energy efficiency savings compared to traditional central heating, resulting in reduced energy bills.
Abdul comments;
“Energy and water efficiency has become a key issue, given the significant rising cost of electricity and gas, exacerbated by the war between Russia and Ukraine. Heating and water-saving solutions that are greener, energy efficient and cost less to run will be in greater demand. Increasing legislation and the drive towards carbon net zero by 2050 represents a major influence and driver in the long-term development of the UK market for energy and water-saving products. I am delighted to take part in the sustainability hub at the UK construction week titled “developing & implementing innovative household water-saving products to promote efficiency and sustainability” to highlight recent developments in products and solutions as well as explore government plans such as the recently launched government Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) which will offer people switching from boilers to renewable technologies such as heat pumps and biomass boilers an upfront payment of £5,000 – £6,000 to help cover the capital cost.”
