Barbour ABI – Walk the World 2020

The team at Barbour ABI took part in the Walk the World challenge on Tuesday 2nd June 2020. This year was a little different from before. With social distancing rules still enforced instead of walking altogether across the beautiful Cotswold Way as we had originally planned, we took it upon ourselves to ensure we walked when and where we could.
Some explored the country fields near their homes, others did laps in their gardens – all tracked on a fit bit, we have proof! – a few met in one of Cheltenham’s local parks and did laps 2 metres apart from each other. There we pooch companions, planes that had drawn smiley faces in the sky, swans showing off their signets, beautiful views and a sense of achievement. Moreover, a couple of staff members have committed themselves to walking 5k everyday throughout June, special recognition to Jan Allen and Roshni Patel!
Our charity partner is the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Hospice. Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – the staff are there when it matters, helping people live the best life they possibly can.
Unfortunately with almost all of their fundraising events cancelled and charity shops being closed due to the Covid-19 Global Pandemic, they are anticipating a huge funding gap this year, funding which is vital for keeping their facilities and support going, therefore it is more important than ever that we are able to support such a wonderful local charity.
If you would like to donate, our Just giving page is still running and we would appreciate your contribution.

Good luck to all the other Walk The World events that are happening throughout the year!
