Changing Design Trends Impact Bathroom Brassware Market

Demand in basin mixer taps and a shift towards home improvement has proved an interesting landscape for the bathroom brassware market trends.

Bathroom Brassware Market Growth

During the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020, the UK bathroom brassware and taps market declined by 16%. However, this decline was less than anticipated, thanks to an uplift in home improvement activity.

In 2022, the market experienced fair value growth of around 6% with demand emulating from residential new build, RMI work and certain commercial end-use applications.

Basin mixer taps account for around 65% of all basin brassware by volume. These products have gradually gained share over pillar taps due to the shift towards mains pressurised water systems in the UK. Basin pillar taps account for 28% and the remaining 7% of share is taken by single-point TMV’s.

By 2027, the market is forecast to represent a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 3.17% when compared to the estimated market size in 2023.

Bathroom Taps Distribution Trends

In terms of distribution, around 35% of bathroom tapware products are distributed via trade distributors including merchants and bathroom distributors.

Bathroom taps are also widely available through retail channels i.e., home improvement multiples and department stores.

On top of this, bathroom tap products are now being increasingly sold direct, this includes direct sales from the manufacturer to the commercial contractor, housebuilder, bathroom installer or end user.

Opportunities for Bathroom Brassware and Taps Market

Editor of the UK Bathroom and Brassware and Taps Market 2023-2027 and Head of Content, Abdul Tantouch comments on the future of the market.

“Future market opportunities in the UK bathroom brassware and taps market will arise from changing design trends and product developments, which will lead to customers trading up to added value solutions.

The evolution of the smart bathroom is now evident, with the growing demand for hygienic touchless brassware solutions.

Water efficiency has become a key consideration, with concerns about climate change and the increasing focus on sustainability and the environment. Personalisation of the bathroom space has also led to the emergence of new tactile ‘living’ brassware finishes that develop and improve over time.”
